Basketball Gym Sound System Upgrade
Elmcor's gym never sits still. Basketball games, dance performances, fundraisers, fitness classes, one right after another. The problem was the old portable PA: announcements were hard to hear and the music came through thin. Crunchy Tech installed a permanent audio system built for gym environments, loud, clear, and simple to run. Now every whistle, track, and mic check cuts through, and staff can move from one kind of event to the next without missing a beat.
Project challenges
Consistent Audio Coverage in a Multipurpose Gym
Elmcor needed sound that could handle a high-SPL space. One night is a basketball game packed to the rafters; the next is a quiet award ceremony or a dance class. Their old rig, a couple of portable speakers, wasn't cutting it. Coverage was uneven, sound dropped off in the corners, and in a loud rec facility that meant spectators couldn't follow what was happening.
The real challenge wasn't just volume. It was clarity, flexibility, and ease of use. Elmcor needed a distributed audio system that could put clean sound across the whole court, adapt to different events, and stay simple enough for anyone on staff to run without expert AV support.

Implementation methodology
Design-Build Approach
We followed our signature design-build AV methodology and kept it simple from start to finish. This was a hands-on collaboration with Elmcor the whole way. We mapped the system layout, confirmed power availability, and made sure the audio sources they already had would plug right in.
The install moved fast. Our team ran clean cabling, mounted the gear, and set the rack to keep everything tight and off the floor. Before we wrapped, we walked Elmcor's staff through running the system, no tech background required. The process stayed smooth, on schedule, and built to make life easier for the people using it every day.
Gymnasium-Grade Audio Components
Crunchy Tech built the system around a distributed loudspeaker layout, high-powered amplification, a 16-channel digital mixer, and a wall-mounted rack, all tuned for flexible, gym-wide coverage.
Everything was chosen for performance and ease of use. The speakers were placed to cover the gym evenly, with no dead zones and no harsh hotspots. The amplifiers carry enough headroom for rowdy crowds and heavy music, and the digital mixer switches from one event type to another in seconds. It sounds excellent, works hard, and stays out of the way.
