About Crunchy Tech

We Are Crunchy Tech

All Senses Go

18 years building systems where audio and video are needed to create seamless, unforgettable experiences.

Complexity Made Manageable.

Crunchy Tech started out of a townhouse in Orlando in 2008 with one contract: support audiovisual systems for a global brand. We weren't tasked to design nor install them, only to keep these systems running. And when your inaugural job is fixing what breaks, you learn fast where every product falls short and what survives a Tuesday night rush.

By 2010, revenue jumped from under $400K to $2.2 million, enough for the company to land on the coveted Inc. 500. That was the foundation. What happened next is what separated Crunchy from every other AV shop in the country: we started inventing.

Foundation & Invention

— From a townhouse contract to Inc. 500. We started inventing.

  1. 2008The First Contract

Started as a support operation for a major global brand's audiovisual systems. One contract, a shared office, and a philosophy that would define everything that came next: understand how systems break before you try to build them.

  2. 2009First Hires

Brought on the founding team members who are still partners today. Moved from independent contractors to a real organization with a shared office space and employee records.

  3. 2010The Growth Spike

Revenue jumped from under $400K to $2.2 million in a single year. That growth rate earned Crunchy a spot on the Inc. 500 — not the 5,000 — making it one of the fastest-growing private companies in America.

  4. 2011Interactive Touch Table

Built a full-touchscreen conference table overnight. TechCrunch picked it up. At the time, large-scale commercial touchscreens didn't exist outside of Microsoft Surface tables or fully custom builds.

  5. 2011Padzilla Is Born

Created the first oversized, fully functional iPad. Oracle rented the first unit for Oracle OpenWorld. A new product line was born.

  6. 2011Voice Control (Before Alexa)

Built a voice-activated system that could control lights. Called it "Aleks." Google sent a cease-and-desist. Amazon hadn't even entered the space yet.

  7. 2013Global Content Distribution

Built a centralized platform controlling music, video, and AV content across 180+ franchise locations. That system ran for 12 years before being retired in 2024–2025.

Core Principles

Four ways we show up.

Est. 2008 120+ Installs 50 States
Origin Support → Build

Built from the inside out

Other commercial AV companies learn how to build systems and then figure out support later. We did it the other way around. Crunchy started as a support operation fixing, maintaining and keeping systems alive across hundreds of locations. That taught us exactly where every product fails, every installation cuts corners and every operation breaks down. We build from that knowledge outward.

"We started by supporting other people's systems. We build from that knowledge outward."

Method Question → Answer

Business first, technology second

Technology is never the starting point. The question is always: what does this space need to do for your business? How should your guests feel? How should your team operate? The equipment, the layout, the control system - those are answers. But you can't write answers without understanding the question first. That bridge between what technology can do and what a business needs it to do is where we operate.

"Technology is never the starting point. What the space needs to do."

Ownership Earned → Real

Built with our own hands

Crunchy Tech has been bootstrapped since day one. No outside investors, venture capital or corporate parent. Every product we've built, every office we've moved into, every team member we've hired -- all funded by revenue, built on profit, earned through work. It shapes how we think about your money too. We don't over-spec because someone else is footing the bill. We design what you need because we know what it costs to build something real.

"No outside investors. Every product earned through work — yours and ours."

Scale One → Two Hundred

Scale without complexity

You could be operating on 1 location or 200. Regardless, the system should be simple for the people running it. Our products, including AV, Padzilla and Unreal Bowling, all follow the same principle: centralized control, simplified operations and global distribution from a single hub. We've been building distributed systems since 2013. The philosophy hasn't changed. If your team can't run it without calling us every week, we didn't design it right.

"One location or two hundred — the system should be simple to run."

Why This History Matters

Every System We Built Taught Us How to Build Yours

Because we didn't start as an AV design firm but as a support team fixing other people's work, that meant learning -- across hundreds of locations, thousands of service calls, and over a decade of hands-on support -- exactly where systems fail, where operators get frustrated and where the gap between "what was promised" and "what works at 9 PM on a Saturday" gets painfully wide.

Then we started building products. Supersized touchscreens that didn't exist yet. Content distribution that ran across 180 locations. Interactive bowling. A giant iPad. Some of those went viral. Some of them got cease-and-desists from Google. All of them taught us something about how to design technology that operates at scale, under real conditions, for real operators who don't have time to troubleshoot.

That's the advantage. Not a feature list or a certification. It's far better: 18 years of building, breaking, fixing, and rebuilding. Applied to your space.
