The Crunchy Tech team recently wrapped an expansion project for Tom's Watch Bar in Phoenix, Arizona. We're proud to have set a new company record for installation speed while delivering the 360-degree sports-viewing experience Tom's Watch Bar is known for.

Project challenges

Tight Two-Week Project Timeline

This Phoenix site came with some distinctive challenges. The biggest was the clock: only two weeks for the full installation, far shorter than the typical month-long AV schedule, which set the tone for a fast, tightly coordinated effort.

The install called for 100 TVs, including twenty 55" displays, one 98" in landscape, one 98" in portrait, and nine 55" outdoor full-sun TVs. We also built a 2×2 video wall of 65" displays, three more video walls, and a Jumbotron.

To handle a range of content sources, we installed twelve HDMI inputs, including a USB-C wall plate for extra flexibility. For audio, we placed 40 commercial speakers – pendant, ceiling, and subwoofers – positioned for full, balanced sound throughout the space.

We tied it all together with a comprehensive control system, working around existing architectural features while coordinating with the other contractors on-site at the same time.

The client's main requirement was a faster installation schedule that gave up nothing on the quality or functionality of the sports-viewing experience the Tom's Watch Bar brand is built on. Hitting their business timeline made this one of the toughest challenges we've taken on in recent memory.

Implementation methodology

Integrated Design-Build Approach

We followed our signature design-build AV methodology, and it's what made the record two-week design-to-build timeline possible. From day one, architects, engineers, and construction teams worked hand in hand to get the job done.

Crunchy Tech works differently from other AV integrators. We adapt our systems and procedures to meet strict timelines. What looks unfeasible for a traditional integrator is a compressed version of what we do all the time. Deploying parallel teams and using pre-configured equipment wherever possible let us fit this project into a 14-day installation.

Our project management system also allowed real-time tuning and prioritization, so path-critical items always got addressed first. Daily all-hands coordination meetings with every stakeholder headed off bottlenecks before they could touch the timeline.
