A Long-Standing AV Partnership Spanning 180+ Locations Worldwide

Crunchy Tech has worked with Hard Rock International since 2008, supporting, maintaining, and building out the company's audiovisual environments across its global portfolio of cafe locations. What started as an AV support relationship has grown into a full technology partnership: control systems, interactive touch experiences, video walls, and global content distribution platforms.

Out of that relationship, Crunchy Tech was tasked with re-designing the core of Hard Rock's internationally recognized music video content distribution system, along with a separate distribution system for the brand's 55-inch portrait touchscreen, the Rock Wall® Solo. More than 180 cafes running both systems receive fresh content every day around the world.

Project challenges

Delivering Scalable AV and Interactive Technology at Global Scale

The scope of the Hard Rock partnership reached well past a single-venue installation. The global content distribution system had to reliably deliver high-definition music video to more than 180 locations across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, all managed from a single source in Orlando, Florida. It also needed to produce content through four independent HD channels at once, something the previous platform could not do.

On the interactive side, Crunchy Tech had to build and maintain multi-touch experiences at every scale, from 22-inch tabletop displays to 18-foot projection walls. Those systems had to hold up to a high-traffic restaurant environment while staying responsive for several users at once. Consistent performance, reliability, and fresh content across hundreds of locations took strong infrastructure and careful, ongoing management.

Understanding the client's needs

Bringing Memorabilia to Life Through Interactive Technology

Hard Rock International's identity is built around its collection of more than 70,000 pieces of rock-and-roll memorabilia. The company needed a technology partner who could take that collection off static walls and turn it into interactive digital experiences that pull guests deeper into the brand. Visitors needed to explore guitars, stage costumes, handwritten lyrics, and platinum records through touch interfaces simple enough to make every visit a discovery.

The music video system mattered just as much. Hard Rock needed a central platform that could produce, manage, and distribute HD video to every cafe worldwide with daily updates: reliable enough for continuous operation, flexible enough for four independent channels, and simple enough to manage remotely without on-site technical staff at each location.

Implementation methodology

Custom Development and Global Deployment

Crunchy Tech developed the global content distribution system through a dedicated 12-month software and hardware engineering cycle. The team built the platform from the ground up, with custom software that produces HD content through four independent channels, a major step up from the legacy system's single channel. The platform was engineered for central management from Orlando, Florida, with reliable distribution to more than 180 locations across four continents.

The Rock Wall® interactive installations required tight coordination between hardware integration, custom software, and on-site deployment. Each install was calibrated for its venue, with multi-touch technology set up to support several simultaneous users working with high-resolution memorabilia content. The Rock Wall® Solo touchscreens rolled out globally through a standardized installation and content-distribution framework, so the experience stays consistent everywhere.

Past the initial deployments, Crunchy Tech provides continuous support, maintenance, and system evolution, keeping Hard Rock's AV environments current, reliable, and in step with the brand's guest-experience strategy.

Interactive Experiences, Global Distribution, and AV Integration

To deliver on Hard Rock International's vision, Crunchy Tech designed, developed, and deployed a multi-platform technology ecosystem: custom software development, interactive hardware integration, global content distribution infrastructure, and ongoing AV environment management.

The global content distribution system was custom-built over a 12-month development cycle. The new hardware and software combination produces high-definition video through four independent channels and distributes it from a single source in Orlando, Florida to more than 180 units worldwide. The Rock Wall® interactive installations give guests hands-on access to more than 1,200 pieces of memorabilia through multi-touch interfaces, a signature brand experience at every location.

Results & impact

A Global AV Ecosystem Powering the Hard Rock Experience

The redesigned global content distribution system replaced the legacy platform, delivering four independent HD channels and daily content updates to more than 180 cafes worldwide. Central management removed the need for on-site content handling at individual locations, simplifying operations and holding brand consistency across every market.

The Rock Wall® interactive installations have become a signature part of the Hard Rock guest experience, letting visitors explore more than 1,200 pieces of memorabilia through multi-user touch interfaces. The Rock Wall® Solo touchscreens carry that experience across the global cafe network, giving guests at every location hands-on access to the brand's collection.

The partnership keeps evolving, with Crunchy Tech supporting and advancing Hard Rock International's AV environments across its worldwide portfolio.
