Project overview
128-Display Sports Bar AV Deployment
At 140 S. Illinois Street in downtown Indianapolis, the newest Tom's Watch Bar brings the brand's signature energy and all-angle sports experience to the heart of the city. With 128 displays, from standard TVs to massive video walls and outdoor screens, this AV build-out turns every seat into a front-row seat and backs Tom's Watch Bar's mission to deliver the ultimate sports bar experience across the country.
Project challenges
High-Density AV Integration Across Diverse Spaces
Designing and deploying AV for the Indianapolis location meant solving several tough problems at once. With 128 HDMI endpoints spread across a multi-zone indoor and outdoor setting, the system design had to hold clean connectivity, low latency, and centralized control.
On top of signal integrity across that many displays, 20 outdoor full-sun 55" TVs with no overhead awning brought environmental concerns. Each one had to deliver bright, glare-resistant visuals in direct sunlight while standing up to changing weather.
Audio had its own puzzle. With seven distinct audio zones and both indoor and outdoor speaker arrays, we had to hold consistent sound quality with no spillover, echoes, or drop-offs. That called for diligent design and installation across ceiling, pendant, and surface-mount speaker types.
Understanding the client's needs
A True 360-Degree Experience
From the start, Tom's Watch Bar stressed one thing: an all-angle sports-viewing experience, whether guests are at the bar, in a booth, or out on the patio.
To get there, our team worked closely with the client to fully understand their vision for consistent visual coverage across the venue. Every decision came down to guest sightlines and engagement.
The design also had to be flexible. Interactive features like wireless mics for trivia nights and HDMI/XLR wall plates for guest DJs meant the AV had to support entertainment beyond game day. Those needs shaped a strategy that balanced high performance with everyday usability and matched the brand's goal of being the first choice for any event.

Implementation methodology
On-Schedule Design-Build Process
We followed our signature design-build AV methodology, with all stakeholders, architects, engineers, and installation teams, aligning early and moving fast from concept to execution.
By centralizing communication and decision-making, we cut delays and made sure every piece of the AV puzzle fit cleanly into the larger design. That early coordination also let us plan around environmental constraints up front, namely the outdoor-ready equipment and proper ventilation for rack-mounted gear.
It's a collaborative approach that keeps the team responsive to changing client needs and site conditions while still hitting critical milestones. The result was a clean, efficient install that delivered on both performance and the look of the space.
Purpose-Built AV Solutions for Every Area
Crunchy Tech deployed a range of high-caliber technologies across video, audio, and control. The AV ecosystem was built for high-resolution playback, consistent audio, and simple control.
Results & impact
128 Displays, 7 Projectors, & 7 Audio Zones
The finished build-out at Tom's Watch Bar Indianapolis sets a new bar for sports entertainment in the Midwest. With 128 displays, including 20 full-sun outdoor TVs, seven projectors with 168-inch fixed screens, and multiple video walls, guests are surrounded by clear action from every angle.
The audio matches it, with seven zones powered by a mix of pendant, ceiling, and surface-mount speakers. Inside or on the patio, patrons get balanced, high-quality sound tuned to each area.
The BrightSign players run promotional content alongside live games, and the wireless mics and input plates open the door to interactive events. Staff manage all of it from two wall-mounted touch panels and a mobile iPad, with full control and no added complexity.
