A Long-Standing AV Partnership Spanning 180+ Locations Worldwide
Crunchy Tech has been working with Hard Rock International since 2008, continuously supporting, maintaining, and evolving the company’s audiovisual environments across its global portfolio of cafe locations. What began as an AV support relationship has grown into a comprehensive technology partnership encompassing control systems, interactive touch experiences, video walls, and global content distribution platforms.
Through this successful relationship, Crunchy Tech was tasked with re-designing the core of the Hard Rock brand’s internationally recognized music video global content distribution system, as well as a separate global content distribution system for Hard Rock’s 55” portrait touchscreen, the Rock Wall® Solo. Over 180 cafes containing both of these systems are updated with new content daily around the globe.
Project Challenges
Delivering Scalable AV and Interactive Technology at Global Scale
The scope of the Hard Rock partnership presented challenges that go far beyond a single-venue installation. The global content distribution system needed to reliably deliver high-definition music video content to over 180 locations spanning North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East — all managed from a single source in Orlando, Florida. The system required the ability to produce content through four independent HD channels simultaneously, a capability the previous platform could not deliver.
On the interactive side, Crunchy Tech needed to create and maintain multi-touch experiences at scales ranging from 22-inch tabletop displays to massive 18-foot projection walls. These systems had to withstand the demanding conditions of a high-traffic restaurant environment while delivering real-time, responsive interactions for multiple simultaneous users. Ensuring consistent performance, reliability, and content freshness across hundreds of global locations required a robust infrastructure and meticulous ongoing management.

Hard Rock International’s brand identity is built around its iconic collection of over 70,000 pieces of rock-and-roll memorabilia. The company needed a technology partner who could transform that collection from static wall displays into dynamic, interactive digital experiences that would deepen guest engagement with the brand. Visitors needed to be able to explore guitars, stage costumes, handwritten lyrics, and platinum records through intuitive touch interfaces — making every cafe visit a discovery experience.
Equally critical was the music video content system. Hard Rock needed a centralized platform capable of producing, managing, and distributing HD video content to every cafe worldwide with daily updates. The system had to be reliable enough for continuous operation, flexible enough to support four independent channels, and simple enough for remote management without requiring on-site technical staff at each location.
