AV Programming

Programming that youneverhavetothinkabout

Good AV systems programming is not heroics at the keyboard but the result of designing a stack that was built to work together. We program every piece into one control system that runs the whole room.

AV Services

Great programming is a designdecision

AV programming is the configuration that makes a system of separate parts behave as one. Every piece of AV gear needs some level of programming, and a real system is pieces from multiple manufacturers that have to work as one interconnected whole.

Our designers program all of it into a single control system and unify it from the operator's point of view, so the room runs from one interface instead of a drawerful of remotes. It's the last layer of our commercial AV work, built on the stack defined in AV consulting and AV system design.

The real question of programming is whether the stack was designed to be programmed together in the first place. Put the right interconnectable parts together and programming is clean, mostly labor time against a vetted design. Put the wrong stack together and you're forced into custom workarounds to make mismatched gear cooperate.

We design for clean programming and then do the programming.

Four parts of cleanprogramming

Each one comes back to the same idea: program a system that was designed to be programmed.

Capability 01

Design-First Programming

The Challenge

A mismatched stack forces fragile custom workarounds to make parts cooperate.

What We Deliver

We confirm the parts can be programmed together before programming starts.
  • Interconnectable stack vetted at design
  • Clean programming over custom rescue work
  • Lower cost, more reliable result
  • Easier to diagnose later

Programming difficulty is a design decision

The real problem

Why programming goeswrong

When a room's programming feels like a workaround, the problem usually started at design.

The honest version: if you put together the right stack, one where the pieces were chosen to be programmed together, there's very little to agonize over. It's labor time against a clean design.

If you didn't, there's no way to make it work without dropping into custom programming to force mismatched parts to cooperate, which costs more, not to mention is more fragile. So the difference between a room that just works and one that fights you traces back to the stack.

Most AV programming companies work around this by steering every client toward the one or two platforms they know best. It isn't laziness necessarily but a limitation of breadth. At Crunchy Tech, we stay platform-agnostic and pick the control platform that fits the business outcome - the programming starts from a stack that was actually designed to be programmed.

What we program

One AV control system, oneinterface

The whole point of audiovisual programming is to collapse a pile of separate systems into one the operator can actually run.

One AV control system, one interface
InstallOne AV control system, one interface

We program the displays, audio zones, video routing, lighting scenes and signage into a single control system, then build the interface the operator actually uses. The client never sees the program. They see an iPad or a wall panel, and the quality of the program is what decides whether that interface feels intuitive or feels like a workaround.

Done expertly, the program turns design-phase decisions into one-tap operations: a lunch scene, a game-day layout, a private-event mode, a happy-hour display that comes up on schedule. Shifting the whole behavior of a venue should be a button, not a project, and that's what good programming delivers.

Agnostic by design

Platform-agnostic, outcome-driven

What your control platform is matters less than whether it can do what your business needs.

We aren't tied to one control platform, so we don't steer every client to the same system regardless of fit. We select the platform that can adopt the feature set your outcome requires, then program against it. Every platform has tiers; the right one depends not on what's easiest for us to template but on what you're trying to run.

That agnostic posture is also what lets us bridge and extend existing systems. When a client already has gear, the main concern is whether it's worth bridging or better replaced, and we'll tell you straight.

Capacity

In-house programming, expertcapacitywhenneeded

Most AV system programming is done in-house. For the most complex builds, we expand expert capacity.

InstallIn-house programming, expert capacity when needed

The majority of our programming is done in-house, against systems we designed to be programmed cleanly. For the most complex deployments and the larger control platforms, we bring in additional specialist capacity to build advanced control logic, so the depth of the deployment is matched by the depth of the programming team behind it.

Either way, you get an AV program built against a vetted design, documented and supported. If something needs attention later, most issues are resolved remotely, because a well-built program is far easier to diagnose than a pile of custom workarounds.

What is AV programming?

AV programming is the configuration that makes a system of separate parts behave as one. Every piece of AV technology needs some level of programming, and most systems are made of pieces from several manufacturers that have to work as one interconnected whole. We program all of it into a single control system and unify it from the operator's point of view, so the venue runs from one interface. The client never sees the program itself; they see the interface. The quality of the program is what makes that interface feel intuitive.

Why does AV programming go wrong so often?

Because the problem usually starts at design. If the stack was chosen so the pieces can be programmed together, programming is clean, mostly labor time against a vetted design. If it wasn't, you're forced into custom workarounds to make mismatched gear cooperate, which costs more and breaks more easily. Most AV programming firms avoid this by defaulting every client toward the one or two platforms they know best, which limits your options to their comfort zone. We stay platform-agnostic and design the stack to be programmed cleanly first, in order for the programming to not become a rescue mission.

Do you do custom programming?

When a deployment genuinely calls for it, yes, and we have the specialist capacity to build advanced control logic for complex builds and larger platforms. But our goal is to make heavy custom programming unnecessary by designing a stack that's interconnectable from the very start. Custom work should be a deliberate choice to achieve something specific. When custom logic is the right call, we build it against a documented design for it to stay supportable rather than becoming a fragile one-off nobody can maintain.

Can you program or add control to a system we already have?

Often, yes, because we're platform-neutral and can bridge a range of existing systems. We'll tell you plainly whether your existing system is worth integrating or whether replacing part of it will save you time, money and headaches. You also don't have to do everything at once: we can stand up control in one zone, get it running and expand from there. We'll check the basics first, whether the low-voltage is in place and whether the existing pieces are bridgeable or too old for a phased plan. We then recommend the path that gives you the most leverage for the spend.

Operators who run on our systems

Client successes drive Crunchy Tech to become better. Below is how our customers feel about us.

Just do it. Spend the money. It’s well worth it. It’s not worth your time, hassle, energy, and stress of trying to make it look right and do it right when there’s somebody who has been doing it for years and has perfected the craft.
